We have 410 units of student accommodation at Wolfson College; 390 rooms for single occupation and a mixture of large rooms and flats for couples. We also have five family flats, each accommodating up to two adults and two children.
Unique amongst Cambridge colleges, Wolfson offers PhD students up to three years in College accommodation, whilst undergraduates are able to live in for the duration of their course. You are not obliged to live in College and some students, especially those already used to living independently, prefer to find private accommodation to suit their needs. Equally, some postgraduates on longer courses split their entitlement across the duration of their course meaning they can live in Wolfson during their final year, allowing them easy access to the facilities that Wolfson offers.
Initial allocation each year is to continuing eligible students who wish to either remain in Wolfson accommodation or move on to site. Commencing students are then invited to apply as their places become confirmed and allocation takes place continually until all accommodation is full.
Every attempt is made to allocate rooms in accordance with student requests as far as availability permits. It is not normally possible to change rooms during the academic year and requests to change rooms should only be made in exceptional circumstances and must have the support of your Tutor.
Both couples and family accommodation is limited and we cannot guarantee to accommodate students with children or partners. The earlier you are able to apply therefore, the better your chance of receiving an offer of accommodation.
For full information regarding Wolfson's accommodation see the Accommodation Guidelines.
Rents & Room Licences
Up-to-date rental levels for College accommodation are shown in the Guide to Student Accommodation. All College rents are fully inclusive - there is no separate charge for electricity, gas, water, computer network access, insurance, cleaning or consumables such as toilet paper. There is also no Kitchen Fixed Charge (KFC). It is important to take these factors into account when comparing accommodation costs with the private sector.
Application forms for accommodation are issued to continuing students in the Easter Term for rooms for the following academic year. Students who are working away and who will need accommodation on their return should email their request to the Accommodation Manager.
Students must vacate their room at the end of their licensed period (unless issued with a new licence). It is not possible to extend your accommodation beyond the point at which your degree is confirmed.
