Wolfson College is located in a peaceful part of Cambridge a few minutes west of the city centre. It is near the Sidgwick and West Cambridge sites and the University Library. There are excellent transport links and plenty of options for travelling to the College using sustainable means.

How to find us

The College is on Barton Road, Newnham. Cambridge has excellent train, bus and road links to London and its airports.

From the city centre

On foot: 20 minutes
By bicycle: 5 minutes
By taxi: 10 minutes; approximately £8-10. Ask for 'Wolfson College, Barton Road entrance'

By bicycle

The best way to get around Cambridge is by bicycle. There is ample cycle parking at College, as well as a bike repair and pump station. Several companies offer cycle and scooter hire.

By road

For driving directions on Google Maps or your sat nav, use the post code CB3 9LG.

From London and its airports: London Orbital (M25), M11 north; from the Midlands or the North: A1, A14, M11 south; from the East: All/A14, M11 south.

Leave the M11 at Junction 12 and follow the sign for Cambridge onto Barton Road.

The College entrance is on your left, 200m past Gough Way, opposite Grantchester Road and just before the traffic lights at the pedestrian crossing.

If you are visiting College, please leave your car in the car park and proceed to the Porters' Lodge to leave your vehicle details.

If taking a taxi, tell the driver to take you to 'Wolfson College, Barton Road entrance'.

By train

Thameslink provides a fast and frequent service from London King's Cross and Greater Anglia provides a slower service from London Liverpool Street. Greater Anglia also has a train service from Norwich to Cambridge. There are also direct services from the Midlands and the north-west. From Scotland and the north-east you have to change at Peterborough.

From the station, you can take a taxi (10 minutes), cycle (15 minutes) or walk to Wolfson (35 minutes).

From Cambridge North station, you can take a taxi (15 minutes), or cycle (25 minutes).

By air

London Stansted (STN) is the nearest airport (40 minutes by road), with good coach and rail services to Cambridge. Stansted is well served by several European low-cost airlines (Ryanair, easyJet, Air Berlin).

Luton (LTN, 1 hour away) London City (LCY, 1.5 hours away) London Heathrow (LHR, 2 hours away) London Gatwick (LGW, 2 hours away)

By coach

National Express run hourly services to and from London and the London airports, as well as serving many other towns and cities. Coaches terminate at Drummer Street bus station in the city centre.

By bus

The Universal bus service links Eddington with West Cambridge, the city centre (Queens' College/Silver Street), the railway station and the Cambridge Biomedical Campus (including Addenbrooke's), running every 15 minutes Monday to Friday and every 20 to 30 minutes on weekends. There is a bus stop five minutes' walk from College on Grange Road. The bus is just £1 with your university ID card.

The Whippet 18 service runs a limited service from Drummer Street bus station and stops at Grantchester Road, Newnham, opposite the front entrance of the College.

Location: At the main entrance to the College.
Open: 06.00-24.00 every day (contact in emergency only between 24.00 and 06.00)
