The Lee Seng Tee Distinguished Lecture was endowed by Dr Lee Seng Tee in 2005 on the occasion of the College’s 40th anniversary and it is a major event in the academic year at Wolfson.

Lee Lecture 2026

We were delighted to welcome Lady Brenda Hale, Baroness of Richmond and Former President of the Supreme Court, as our speaker for Wolfson's prestigious Lee Lecture this year.

Lady Hale will look back on her long career in the law and ask whether, as she argues in her most recent book, With the Law on Our Side, the law really is on our side.

Revisit some interesting ideas from past Lee Seng Tee Distinguished Lectures:

Reflection & Renewal - responding to polarisation in today’s world - Julia Gillard

Informed by her roles at the Wellcome Trust and the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership at King's College London, former Prime Minister of Australia, Julia Gillard, explored the phenomenon of polarisation in today’s world, with a particular focus on polarisation around gender equality and the role of science.

Julia reflected on the drivers of division and how this fragmentation impacts decision making at all levels, before discussing some potential strategies to renew community bonds and improve political discourse.

How to change the world. A quick guide - Sandi Toksvig OBE

As a Cambridge alumna, Sandi returned to the university after being awarded the first Qantabrigian Q+ Fellowship by the LGBTQ+ research programme which is based in the Department of Sociology. During her Fellowship, Sandi will be developing a new Mappa Mundi project, a digital resource documenting women’s position, achievements and struggles across the globe. The project was the topic of her talk here at Wolfson, 'How to change the world. A quick guide.'
