Pan continues Wolfson piano excellence amidst feast of music

Practice & performance are an essential part of College life
Under the direction of Lyn Alcántara, Wolfson has a thriving Music Society and College Choir with a full programme of concerts.
Wolfson has returned to a busy programme of concerts this year:
Tue 31 Jan | The Making of Jamaica’s ‘First Composer’: Rethinking Samuel Felsted (1743-1802) | Talk by Wolfson PhD student Wayne Weaver in collaboration with the Humanities Society. |
Tue 7 Feb | Lent Term College Service | A 45-minute religious service led by the College Chaplains with music from Wolfson College Choir and pianist Patrick Pan. |
Fri 17 Feb | Jazz and Madeira | Hear pianist and Wolfson alumnus, Dr Franz Nowak perform with Tiago Coimbra (bass) at this after-dinner performance in the Lee Hall. |
Sat 11 Mar | Lunchtime Concert: Homage to the Noble Grape |
Performance by the Cambridge University Brass Ensemble with conductor Chistopher Lawrence |
Sun 19 Mar | Lent Term Concert & Choir Reunion | Wolfson College Choir and Alumni perform works including Rutter's GLORIA! accompanied by Prime Brass, celebrating Lynette Alcántara's 30th anniversary leading the choir. |

2021/22 academic year concerts included
Choir concerts: Vivaldi Gloria with Baroque ensemble, a tribute for the 150th anniversary of Vaughan Williams, carol performances, services and summer garden parties.
Music & Madeira (our after dinner recital series): Kevin Loh (guitar), CU Brass Band
Mary Bevan Recital: Piano recital by winners of the CUMS Concerto Competition - Patrick Pan and Mark Zang
Lunchtime Concerts: Full Fathom Five madrigal group, CueMe (CU Experimental Music Ensemble), CU Brass Ensemble, Daniel Phillips (violin)
Early Music Series: Dan Tidhar (harpsichord) & Hazel Brooks (Baroque violin)
The College has several rehearsal spaces and practice instruments, and offers financial support for students of music. Wolfson has a regular stream of students studying at the Faculty of Music.
