The College Choir usually has a busy Michaelmas Term preparing for services, carols and a major concert. Instead, it has had to develop a new dimension to ensure that music remains an integral part of the Wolfson College experience.
“We’ve had to go to some lengths to ensure we can rehearse and keep all our singers safe,” said Lynette Alcántara, Fellow and Director of Music at Wolfson. “Due to the Lee Hall’s capacity, and to ensure safety, we’ve had to combine hall and Zoom rehearsals. Online performance is certainly not the same as the magic of in-person performance, but it allows us all a rare opportunity to connect, and it gives even more people the chance to listen to these wonderful singers.”
During the pandemic, Wolfson has offered online music talks, pre-recorded performances, and virtual choir videos.
In the video below, the Choir perform Sleep my Jesu – composed by Jamie W. Hall and conducted by Lynette Alcántara – from their homes.
