It was an emphatic victory, with the Cambridge University team 4-0 winners against an Oxford side that were playing in their home city, at Oxford City FC.
“We are thrilled to have won,” said Fran. “After waiting a month since the original postponed match, we dominated the game and were very clinical in front of goal.
“Every player gave it their all and I did not doubt this team's mentality or footballing ability for one minute. It was incredible to lift the trophy after such a successful season - huge credit to the rest of the team, our head coach Dave and strength and conditioning coach Tristan.”
The result is the culmination of a remarkable season for the Cambridge squad.
“This year has been incredibly successful for us,” says Fran. “We finished third in the Midlands Division 1A league and reached the Final of the Aldi National Women’s Cup. I am incredibly proud of the team and we deserve every bit of success this year for our hard work.”
