Wolfson has more part-time students than any other Cambridge college — more than 250 Master's and PhD student members on a variety of MSt and MEd programmes in subjects such as business, criminology, history, genomic medicine and more, and a smaller number of students doing part-time PhD and EdD research degrees.
Unlike part-time degrees at many universities, the part-time courses at the University of Cambridge are not distance learning degrees where study is undertaken remotely. Most MSts are vocational courses centred around residential blocks of three to four weeks in Cambridge spread over the year, where they have the opportunity to benefit fully from the intellectual and social experiences of College life. In addition to having two Tutors specifically devoted to part-time students, Dr Jamie Trinidad and Dr Deborah Pullinger, we also send out a regular e-newsletter called Full On several times a year. We also have a weekly Events newsletter This Week at Wolfson, which goes out every Monday during term giving a full list of all talks, academic support, concerts and many other events and activities that take place at Wolfson.
Starting this weekend, on Saturday 27 July, the Tutorial staff have put together a programme of social and academic events specifically for our part-timers. Although we have several dozen part-time students staying in accommodation for the full week, any part-time students are welcome to join in on the activities. If you have any questions about the events, just contact the Tutorial Manager. You can download the programme here.
