Professor William Blakemore BVSc MA PhD ScD Hon FRCVS

Emeritus Fellow

  • Formerly Professor of Neuropathology, CU Dept of Veterinary Medicine

Bill Blakemore has been a Fellow of Wolfson since 1983. His principal research interest has been in repair of the nervous system – especially following demyelinating diseases such as multiple sclerosis. He has investigated the reason why remyelination fails in MS, and the potential for using transplanted cells in the therapy of MS.

He is also interested in neurotoxicology and diagnostic veterinary neuropathology.

Medieval woodcarving is Bill’s main pastime outside the laboratory.
