"I am developing a tool for building owners to evaluate sustainable upgrades to existing buildings with simple scorecards evaluating economic, environmental and social impacts of upgrades. I'm also developing the theory for my tool and would like to concurrently develop a more professional graphical user interface for public usage in the future. Prior to coming to Cambridge I was a mechanical engineer with 5 years of professional building design experience (designing thermal systems for buildings including HVAC, plumbing, chillers, and boilers etc.), before then pursuing a degree in Engineering for Sustainable Development".

"Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, I did my bachelor's in Bioresource Engineering at McGill University, Canada. I am currently doing my master's in Engineering for Sustainable Development. My current project, in collaboration with Anna Dempster, as part of the Sustainability and Conservation Hub and the Wolfson Arts Committee is an art exhibition on food waste. Worldwide, around one third of food produced for human consumption is wasted. The project will consist of a series of still lifes made from leftover food collected from the Wolfson Cafeteria. The goal will be to see food waste in a new way, starting with our own plates. I am actively looking for volunteers and funding to bring the project to life."

"I am passionate about conservation and sustainability and I believe in playing an active role in society to contribute to the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals. My desire is to continuously seek solutions to the solid waste problem plaguing communities worldwide. As part of my project within the S&C Hub, I will focus on creating art pieces from locally available waste materials. I look forward to hosting a college-wide art project that brings people together virtually to interact and share ideas while creating beautiful art from simple waste materials."

Charlie's bio can be found here. Charlie is a co-Convenor for the Hub as well as a Proactive Member, and has been responsible for driving its formation and development. Charlie's pet project is to map all the sustainability & conservation-related Centres, Institutes, Departments, courses, Societies, groups etc in the Cambridge area to produce to a graphic to guide others. The current graphic can be seen here (coding credit Lena Morrill). Additional resources or your professional time would enable Charlie to redesign the map for increased user friendliness and utility, as well as adding more features.
