The Cambridge Foundation Year is a fully-funded residential course designed to offer a stepping stone to Cambridge for those who have experienced educational disadvantage. If you want to study courses in the Arts, Humanities or Social Sciences, are ordinarily resident in the UK, and circumstances have prevented you from realising your academic potential, this is an opportunity not to miss.
This innovative route is designed for a new field of candidates to help them realise their academic potential through a full-time, residential programme fully embedded in the Collegiate University. The course is open to those ordinarily resident in the UK and applicants must meet eligibility criteria.
Wolfson College is delighted to be one of the first Colleges involved in the Foundation Year. Students will study here as full members of the College, able to participate in all elements of student life and will benefit from the community, support and academic stimulation this offers, which is intrinsic to the Cambridge experience.
Entry Requirements
In order to be eligible to apply to the Foundation Year, applicants must have or be projected to receive 120 UCAS academic tariff points. We accept a variety of qualifications within this academic requirement including A Levels, BTECs and Access to HE Diplomas. The full list of qualifications we accept is listed here.

Applications
The Foundation Year uses a different application deadline to other Cambridge courses. You must apply by the January UCAS deadline.
All shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete the Foundation Year Admissions Assessment as part of the admissions process. This assessment is designed to determine a candidate’s potential to thrive on the course. It has been designed to assess applicants’ ability to think through a range of ideas and arguments, allowing them to show that they have the skills required to complete the Foundation Year. It also allows us to consider all applicants equally across a gathered field, regardless of their educational background or qualifications. Full information can be found here.
