Living at Wolfson
Living at College with the library, gym and catering available seven days a week means you get the best support for your academic and social life. Our Porters are on site 24/7 to help with everything from lost keys to friendly chats. Your Tutors are nearby and available on a regular schedule and we have plenty of spaces for you to meet with other students, Fellows and visiting academics.
The Wolfson site is a compact 10 acres, combining green courtyard spaces and gardens with interconnecting indoor spaces made of up buildings old and new. A number of large houses are dotted around the edge of the site giving this particular type of accommodation a sense of privacy whilst still being on the main site. Indeed all accommodation is on the main site, and all are renovated regularly on a rolling schedule.
The site is dotted with mature trees and planted flower borders, picnic tables (and a barbecue) and there are plenty of covered cycle racks. We have an excellent gym and a tennis/basketball court on site. There is excellent WiFi all across the site and a four-person IT team to help with any computer-related issues. Maintenance requests are responded to quickly by our helpful and friendly staff.
There are meeting rooms available in the Chancellor's Centre and several of the houses. We have several large rooms and the Lee Hall for rehearsals, yoga classes, music practice on one of our pianos or our Flemish harpsichord.
There are 410 units of student accommodation at Wolfson College; 390 rooms for single occupation and a mixture of large rooms and flats for couples. There are also five family flats, each accommodating up to two adults and two children. All types of accommodation has access to kitchen facilities be it a shared kitchen in the block or your dedicated kitchen in a self-contained flat.
As an undergraduate student you are guaranteed College accommodation for the length of your course. You are not obliged to live in College however and some students, especially those already used to living independently, prefer to find private accommodation to suit their needs.
Initial allocation each year is to continuing eligible students who wish to either remain in Wolfson accommodation or move on site. Commencing students are then invited to apply as their places become confirmed and allocation takes place continually until all accommodation is full.
