Our Society

The Wolfson College Science Society brings together members of the College from a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds with an interest in science and cross-disciplinary collaboration. We organise a variety of talks and events throughout the year, showcasing exciting research and perspectives from invited speakers and Wolfson members. We aim to foster an inclusive and stimulating environment where we can discover what’s happening in different fields, share ideas across disciplines, and explore the role of science in the wider academic and social context.

Who can join

Membership is free and open to all members of Wolfson College. Whether you are in the sciences yourself or simply curious about the latest discoveries, their history or their impact on society, you are very welcome to attend our events or join our Society.
Bring your friends — our events are open to non-members, the wider University community and the general public!

Our events

The Science Society Committee organises a schedule of events that take place every other week in term time. Our events span a wide range of formats, from talks by eminent academics to theme nights, stimulating discussions and multi-disciplinary panels. Each term has a slightly different focus, with more interactive and engaging events in the Michaelmas and Lent terms, and more formal academic events in the Easter term. We also occasionally collaborate with other Wolfson Societies (Humanities, Arts, Law) to host interdisciplinary events.

Keep up to date with our events by signing up to our mailing list.

Get involved

Do you know a scientist who is also a great speaker? Do you have a fun idea for a science-related event? Would you like to present a scientific breakthrough to the Wolfson community? Get in touch with us at science@wolfson.cam.ac.uk.
