The underlying theme throughout Tom's career, has been the relationship between man and the environment. He is active with the Wolfson College Boat Club, serving as Treasurer of the Club, and Treasurer of the Friends of WCBC.

  • HS in Obs and Gynae, Lewisham (1971)
  • SHO Hackney Anaesthetics (1972)
  • District Medical Officer (West) British Solomon Islands (1972-1974)
  • Medical Registrar, King’s Lynn (1975)
  • Registrar Community Medicine (1975-1977)
  • Acting District Community Physician Bury St Edmunds (1980) 
  • University Lecturer, Department of Public Health, including Honorary Consultant in Public Health Medicine, East Anglian RHA (1977- 2002) (later Cambridge and Huntingdon)
  • Director of East Anglian Cancer Registry, Chairman UK cancer Registries for four years
  • UK representative EU committee on Cancer Prevention
  • University Committee on Travel and Expeditions 
  • University Health Committee  

He retired in 2002.
