Tony Wilson was a Fellow of Wolfson from 1994 to 2006, and is now Emeritus. He served on the College Council and has chaired the College’s Statutes and Ordinances Committee since 2001.
He read Modern Languages at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, before starting in publishing with Longmans Green in 1961. He worked in London subsequently for Thomas Nelson and for Allen and Unwin before returning to Cambridge in 1972 to join Cambridge University Press. Tony became Chief Executive and Secretary of the Press Syndicate in 1992 and retired in 1999.
From 1983 until 2008 he was a Governor of the Royal Shakespeare Company, serving part of that time on its Board as well as chairing the Audit Committee and the Pension Trustees. He was also a Governor of the Perse School for Girls in Cambridge for twenty years, and Chairman from 1988 to 1999. More recently, he was the Treasurer of Westcott House in Cambridge from 2000 to 2009.
Tony’s interests include taking long walks, but only once a year!
