Jon Crowcroft has worked on Internet-related technologies for just over four decades.

Jon studied Natural Sciences in Cambridge back in the 1970s. He then studied and worked on the early Internet from 1980, gaining an MSc and a PhD in Computer Science at University College London. In 2001, he left a personal chair at UCL to move back to Cambridge to take up the Marconi Chair. He has advised over 50 successful PhD students. He is a Fellow of the BCS, the IET, the ACM, the IEEE, and of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society.

Currently working on trustworthy digital identity for developing regions, funded by Gates Foundation. Also, a project on interpreting the evolution of law in Japan and UK based on analysing court transcripts.
