Virginia Newcombe is a Junior Research Fellow at Wolfson College. She graduated in medicine from the University of Queensland, Australia and joined the Wolfson Community in 2004, completing a Masters in Epidemiology.

Subsequently, Virginia completed a PhD investigating diffusion tensor imaging and traumatic brain injury funded by a Gates Scholarship. Virginia is currently continuing research in the use of magnetic resonance imaging as a biomarker in brain injury while also training as an Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care Physician. She has recently been awarded the Niels Lassen Young Investigator Award (2011) from the International Society for Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism and made a Junior Fellow of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance Medicine in recognition of her work.
