Dr Vijay Narayan BSc MS

  • Herchel Smith Research Fellow, CU Cavendish Laboratory, Semiconductor Physics Group

Vijay Narayan is a Herchel Smith Research Fellow in the Semiconductor Physics Group, Cavendish Laboratory. He is interested in the novel phenomena arising in electron systems where inter-electron interactions are strong. In specific, he investigates low-density two-dimensional electron systems by studying their thermo-electric and magnetic properties. More information on this can be found on www.sp.phy.cam.ac.uk/SPWeb/home/vn237.html.

Vijay Narayan graduated from the University of Calcutta in 2002 and obtained his PhD in the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 2009. During his PhD he experimentally investigated two-dimensional systems of agitated granular rods and their similarities to moving collections of living organisms (such as bird flocks, cattle herds and bacterial colonies). More information on this can be found on www.sciencemag.org/content/317/5834/105.abstract.
