Joni’s research aims to understand the cognitive factors that predispose children to learning difficulties with a view to developing new targeted interventions. Her current research focusses on developing methods to enhance the effects of cognitive training to improve working memory, the cognitive system responsible for the temporary storage of information. This includes developing new methods to bridge the gap between the specific cognitive gains induced by training and their flexible application to the real-world and combining training with low-current brain stimulation.
