Dr Evelyn Lord

Evelyn Lord has been a Fellow of Wolfson since 1997. A graduate of the Open University, Evelyn lived and worked for eight years in the Netherlands before returning to the UK to carry out research for her PhD at the University of Leicester. There followed a postdoctoral fellowship at Manchester University and then a lectureship in Local History at the University of Derby.

In Cambridge, as Staff Tutor at the Institute of Continuing Education, Evelyn was Course Director for the MSt in Local and Regional History. Her research interests remain in the field of Local History and she is Review Editor of The Local Historian.

Evelyn is the author of The Knights Templar in Britain (Longman 2004) and The Hellfire Clubs: Sex, Satanism and Secret Societies (Yale University Press 2008). She also founded EAH Press, which specialises in the publication of Local History monographs, including her own book Brewers and Brewing in Huntingdonshire (2008).

Within Wolfson, Evelyn is a former Members’ Steward and is currently Secretary of the Emeritus Fellows Society.
