Alice is a graduate of Newham College where she read Natural Sciences. She joined the University administration in 1989 working at the Old Schools, amongst other things supporting the Registrary with work for the Council and Finance Committee. She has also worked in the School of Biological Sciences as Deputy School Secretary and Secretary of the Faculty Board of Biology, and was ‘hands-on’ in running the Medical and Veterinary Sciences Tripos and biological Natural Sciences Tripos. In her previous role as Head of Education and Student Policy, Alice supported the work of the Senior Tutors’ Committee as well as being responsible for quality assurance of University teaching.
In November 2018 she was appointed Head of Education Services, a new role that brings together the strategic, policy-related and operational support of the University’s educational activities in advance of the opening of the Student Services Centre in Spring 2019.
Education Services, which is part of the Academic Division, includes the Cambridge Admissions Office, the Graduate Admissions Office, the Cambridge Centre for Teaching and Learning, Student Operations and Educational and Student Policy, and a number of dedicated support services such as the Disability Resource Centre and University Counselling Service. One of the objectives of Alice's new role will be to make sure the student-related services provided centrally are integrated fully with those in other areas of the university.
Alice is a member of the Academic Registrars Council (ARC) and the Association of Managers of Head of Student Services in Higher Education (AMOSSHE).
