On Thursday 3 May, between 6 and 8pm, we will be holding a drinks reception at the international law firm Fried Frank (41 Lothbury, London, EC2R 7HF). We are most grateful to Fried Frank and particularly Mr Imran Aslam (2007), who is an Associate at the firm, for their generosity in hosting this event. As well as an opportunity to network with fellow Wolfson alumni, there will be a short presentation by Dr Giles Yeo, Fellow and Tutor at Wolfson. Giles’s research centres on brain control of body weight – you may recognise him from his regular appearances on the BBC – particularly Horizon and Trust Me, I’m a Doctor.
In conjunction with this event, we will be launching our 2018 appeal for a Wolfson Members in the City Student Bursary. We hope that members who feel that their time at Wolfson helped them to forge their careers will be inspired to make a gift to enable future Wolfson students in need of financial support to benefit from the same opportunities. Every pound donated will be passed directly on to a student at the College. If everyone who attends the City Evening makes a gift of £100 (or £10 per month), the College will be able to offer an additional four £5,000 hardship bursaries this October.
We are proud to support this Appeal as alumni ambassadors, and we invite you to join us on Thursday 3 May to network with your peers and find out more about how you, too, can support current Wolfson students as they build the foundations for their own future careers.
If you would like to attend, please book online. There is no charge for this event and the dress code is business casual.
With very best wishes,
Nicholas Frankopan (1998), MPhil in Medieval History
James Lai (2004), MSt in IDBE
Deirdre Lyons Le Croy (2007), MPhil in Planning, Growth & Regeneration
Martin Papadatos (2004), PhD in Management Studies
Nush Patchava (2007), Graduate Course in Medicine
A word from some of our Appeal ambassadors...
We are so grateful to all those who contributed to the 2017 Appeal and helped students Abigail, Matt and Jenny to pursue their studies at Wolfson in spite of challenging circumstances. Click on the video below to see a personal message of thanks from these three students and to hear more about how this initiative has had a transformative impact on their personal and professional lives.
