On Tuesday 6 May, the College will launch our first-ever Giving Day, a 36-hour fundraising event that celebrates 60 years of Wolfson, marking six decades of shared history and future growth.
“This is the first time that Wolfson College has asked our entire global community to come together and coordinate their support in a Giving Day. We hope that you will be inspired by those who have already made a gift to join us and maximise the impact we can achieve through philanthropy. Through the generosity of our alumni and friends, we will be able to continue improving the incredible experience of being at Wolfson for current and future generations of students. Thank you for your support!”
- Simon Crookall, Development Director
From 08:00 on Tuesday 6 May to 20:00 on Wednesday 7 May, the College will be raising funds for three key initiatives:
Planning for a sustainable future is a key part of our College Masterplan and will continue to be a priority as we further develop our physical site. We are proud to have recently finished our sustainability-driven kitchen refurbishment project, and supporting this fund will help us to reduce the environmental footprint of student accommodation buildings as we improve insulation and install air-source heat-pumps and solar panels.
For all students, their time at Wolfson is one of exploration and growth. We want students to have the opportunities for personal and academic development, whether that’s rowing in the Boat Club, building vital skills with the Entrepreneurship Hub, or receiving academic support from the College’s WolfWorks programme. This fund will support students to have a well-rounded experience at Wolfson College, however they choose to get involved.
The General Fund is vital to the day-to-day running of the College, providing 90% of our expenditure and ensuring that Wolfson remains a thriving community. The flexibility of the fund means we can direct financial support where it is needed most—whether that means helping a student in hardship, maintaining our beautiful gardens, or sustaining the traditions that make Wolfson special.
Alongside our online platform, we’ll be celebrating Giving Day and Wolfson with special events in College! Come to the Club Room on Tuesday 6 May for a Giving Day Fair, complete with games and treats, and come support the Boat Club as they try and complete an erg-a-thon. We'll also be giving away cupcakes in the Club Room on Wednesday 7 May - we hope to see you there!
