The gift will contribute £1.5 million towards the cost of purchasing 40 Barton Road, which will be turned into Wolfson student accommodation and renamed Wei Wang House in honour of her generous gift.

In addition, the gift will contribute £500,000 to fund the FEIBI PhD scholarship for Women in STEM subjects. In recognition of this extraordinary gift to Wolfson, the College has invited Wei Wang to become a Bredon Fellow.

Based in Hong Kong, Wei Wang holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and is currently enrolled in the Executive Master of Business Administration programme at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Wei Wang worked for several internationally renowned investment banks in Hong Kong before joining her family's urban planning and commercial property development business.

Wei Wang said of her donation: “I am delighted to be able to make a contribution to this prestigious institution. I am deeply committed to the importance of education, and I have been impressed by Wolfson College’s dedication to its diverse population of students. It is my pleasure to be able to help the College in its mission.”

“This generous gift will have a transformational impact on Wolfson, enabling us to increase our campus and add much-needed student accommodation, whilst also providing funding for a PhD scholarship for women scientists. Both of these are important priorities for Wolfson, and we are very grateful to Wei Wang for her support.”
