He has worked as an advisor to health agencies, industry, academia and regulatory agencies. He is an expert on the molecular basis of infection with a strong emphasis on pathogenic mechanisms/immunity, genomics, disease tracking and antibiotic resistance. He is currently President of the Microbiology Society of the UK.
Professor Dame Ijeoma Uchegbu, Wolfson’s President, said of Gordon’s award:
“I am absolutely delighted to see that Gordon has been recognised for his tireless work in the area of infectious diseases. We first met at the Wellcome Trust a few years ago, and my admiration of Gordon’s work began in those early meetings. His efforts to bring treatments and preventions to different areas of the globe is truly exemplary, and his recognition is so richly deserved.”
Congratulations, Gordon!
