Dr Nick Evans awarded prestigious Pilkington Prize

UK indie-rock band The Sherlocks have been announced as the headliners for this year’s Wolfson May Ball (23 June).
Tipped as “the next in line” for the indie-rock crown by The Guardian, The Sherlocks have generated 50 million global streams, headlined sell-out tours across the UK and Europe, and supported Kings of Leon, Liam Gallagher, Libertines, and more.
“We are so excited for The Sherlocks to headline our 2023 May Ball,” said Scott Dunleavy, Wolfson May Ball 2023 President. “We’ve seen them play before, and their sound and energy are perfect to close the show on our mainstage.”
The theme of this year’s May Ball is “A Fair of Retrofuturism”: “Pairing century-old ideas and inventions that predicted what the world would be like one hundred years ahead with the art nouveau of La Belle Époque, this year’s ball promises to be a night like no other.”
The event kicks off on Friday 23 June at 8pm and celebrations will continue until 5am on Saturday 24 June 2023.
Tickets are available now, but they are going fast.
“If you’re ready for turn-of-the-century carnivals and the cafés of Paris, for one-man flying machines and electromechanical marvels, then get your tickets now,” says Scott. “We’ve had really strong opening ticket sales, so if you want to be astounded, dazzled, and maybe even shocked, definitely head over to our website and pick up tickets now before they’re gone.”
