In order to facilitate the installation of a new security and self-issue system, the Library Reading Room (upstairs) will be closed to readers from 08:00 on Monday 12 August until 18:00 on Friday 16 August. During this period the Computer Room, SDWR and basement facilities will remain open as normal, except for Tuesday 13 August, when the whole Lee Library building will be closed from 08.30-16.00 during a planned electrical shutdown.

The Librarian will be on leave from 5.15pm on Friday 2 August until 8.45am on Monday 12 August. The Library remains open as usual during her absence. The Library Assistant will be in his office at times on Monday 5 and Wednesday 7 August.

Cambridge computing: the first 75 years, published to mark the 75th anniversary of the Computer Laboratory, includes a chapter entitled 'The Computer Laboratory, 1980-2012: the 'Needham Years' and the Modern Era'. Roger Needham, a Wolfson fellow from 1966 until his death in 2003, was Head of the Computer Laboratory for 16 years (1980-1996), steering the department successfully through a period which saw tremendous growth of the subject.

The busiest time in the Library appears to have passed, so we've decided to revert to the usual 12 hour reservation system. Readers may now reserve study materials on a desk for up to 12 hours. Please make sure you fill in one of the yellow reservation slips and leave it clearly on top of your books/papers. As long as you return within 12 hours staff will not clear your belongings. Thank you for your cooperation!

Don't forget that you can view, download and print exam papers from the last five years on the Cambridge University Library Exam Question Website. Tripos, LLM and many MPhil exam papers from the years 2008-2012 are available. Use your Raven user-id and password to log in to the site. A set of bound paper copies of Tripos exam papers from the years 2006-2010 can be found on the reference shelves in the Lee Library.
