Jane Clarke Award for Women in STEM

Professor Jane Clarke working in the laboratory with other scientists

To recognise the immeasurable impact of her Presidency at Wolfson, the College intends to establish a new student scholarship to honour Professor Jane Clarke FRS FMedSci.

We need the support of our community to make this ambition a reality and fund the future of women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics at Wolfson.

As a leading voice in the Cambridge science community over decades, Jane Clarke has been an inspiration to generations of aspiring female scientists. Her Presidency at Wolfson and dedication to scientific thinking applied to all areas of life has cemented the College’s reputation as a destination for top science candidates from around the world.

Across Cambridge and the UK University sector, women are still under-represented at all levels in a variety of scientific fields. There is now strong evidence that targeted scholarships improve application rates for underrepresented groups while also increasing applications to the College in general. The College has a small but growing fund for women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), but a flagship award in the name of our first female- and first scientist-President is a significant step forward.

The College intends to raise funds to establish a designated fund, with the income used to award studentships for female PhD students in STEM subjects, to be named in honour of Professor Jane Clarke FRS FMedSci.

Make your own gift to honour Jane’s legacy to Wolfson and science and create life-changing opportunities for women in STEM at our world-leading College.
