Part time study week

Summer Study Week

Sunday 28 July to Sunday 4 August 2024

Our Summer Study Week provides a unique opportunity for part-time students to study, relax and enjoy the benefits of Cambridge.

Part time study week

Part-time study at Cambridge is a wonderful opportunity – but we know it can be challenging to make time for academic work when life is crammed with work and other commitments. At the Wolfson Summer Study Week, you’ll be able to take some time out to concentrate on your research whilst enjoying the benefits of College life.

Whether you need to do some concentrated reading, kick-start your writing or complete a crucial chapter, the week is designed to provide the environment and the support that will help you achieve your study goals. You’ll also find plenty of opportunities for relaxation and conversation, both with part-timers working in different fields and other members of the College.

We do hope that you’ll be able to come and take advantage of a full week, but you are welcome to come for as few or many days as you like.

What’s on offer?

The final programme will be confirmed nearer the time, but the Special Study Week typically includes:

  • Peer writing-group sessions
  • Library skills sessions – for groups or 1–1
  • Daily Study Week Lunch Table with part-time tutors and other members of staff
  • Formal Hall
  • Drinks reception
  • Walking tour of Cambridge centre and Colleges
  • Walk to Grantchester for tea in the Orchard
  • WCSA social events
  • WCSA panel session with part-timer alumni

The welcome event with barbecue and tour of the College will be on the afternoon of Sunday 28 July.

During your stay in College, you can of course enjoy use of the gym, our lovely peaceful gardens, and local countryside walking routes.

Who is it for?

The week is open to any Wolfson part-time student, on any course, in any year, and you are welcome to book accommodation for many days as you like.

If you are living locally or would prefer to make other accommodation arrangements, you are still most welcome to participate. In that case you should still register so that your receive information and updates as they become available.

Students who’ve come for Study Week always tell us that it has been an invaluable part of their time at Cambridge:

This week has inspired me. I see my research as part of the work of the university and myself as a member of a college.

“Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. I feel at home in the College now.”
