Wolfson students Anna Chacko (Anglo-Saxon, Norse & Celtic Part 1A), who is about to start the second year of her undergraduate studies and Eugene Chua (Philosophy Part II), who graduated this summer, were among the first recipients of the Winifred Georgina Holgate Pollard Memorial Prizes, 2017, as published in the Reporter 27 September.

The University of Cambridge created this new prize fund last year to reward those who achieve the ‘most outstanding results’ in their Tripos after the University received a £1.4 million bequest from an alumnus.

Faculties also award those who top the part of the Tripos in which they’ve sat examinations, with a plethora of other paper-specific or dissertation-specific prizes also up for grabs.

Here at Wolfson, students who achieve a First or Distinction in a Tripos examination are awarded a Jennings Prize, named for Arthur Jennings, the first Senior Tutor at the College. Anna and Eugene each received a Jennings Prize this summer.
