The Science Society arranges weekly talks (during term time) from various disciplines across the Sciences. The talks are open to anyone and free to attend.

I will discuss how modern cosmology uses observations of the Universe we live in to try to infer how this Universe began. In doing so, I will discuss the possibilities of this beginning, their successes and shortcomings. And finally I will give an overview on the most puzzling open problems facing the field today.
