CRISPR is poised to have a revolutionary impact on patients’ lives. Over 6,000 human diseases are caused by mutations in a single gene. These are potentially amenable to 'curative' CRISPR medicine. Dr Russell will describe the technology which has taken the scientific community by storm, and explore its wide and, often, unexpected applications, including a discussion on the world’s first CRISPR babies born in China. He will then describe how medical professionals are using the technology, including an approach taken to correct the cells of a patient suffering from Primary Immunodeficiency disease.
