JUNIOR PRIME BRASS
Junior Prime Brass (JPB) began in 2010 as a quintet for the children and pupils of the Cambridge-based ensemble Prime Brass, expanding to the standard dectet you hear this afternoon. The players attend various schools in Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Suffolk, and each year a handful of players leave after their A levels, making way for new members to join after competitive auditions. Within JPB there are members of Aldeburgh Young Musicians, Britten Sinfonia Academy, the Royal College of Music Junior Department, Junior Guildhall, and the National Youth Orchestra of GB. In 2016 JPB performed at the Royal Albert Hall in the Music for Youth Proms, having performed there in the Music for Youth Primary Proms in 2014.
JPB is coached and conducted by Christopher Lawrence, who played tuba in Prime Brass from 1997 to 2011 and is Bursar of Wolfson College.
