A recital by our Ian Cross Instrumental Scholar, trumpeter Gonen Orbach.
Performer
Gonen Orbach (Israel, 1999) is a trumpeter and a graduate of the Barenboim–Said Akademie, Berlin, completing his Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance with honours under Prof. Reinhold Friedrich. He previously studied with Prof. Gábor Tarkövi and members of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
Gonen has performed with the Neue Philharmonie and the Barenboim–Said Akademie Orchestra under Daniel Barenboim, as well as with the Tel Aviv Soloists Ensemble at the Busan MARU International Music Festival in South Korea. He has also appeared with the Israel Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and the “Kleiman Band” Big Band in international festivals across Europe.
An active chamber musician, he was a member of the Barenboim–Said Akademie Brass Quintet and has taken part in masterclasses with leading trumpet pedagogues including Reinhold Friedrich, Jeroen Berwaerts, Otto Sauter, Jens Lindemann, and Kristian Steenstrup. He is a recipient of multiple Excellence Grants from the America–Israel Cultural Foundation. Gonen is currently pursuing an MPhil in Music at the University of Cambridge, researching the aesthetics of imperfection in live performance. A Wolfson student, he is the recipient of the 2025/26 Ian Cross Graduate Instrumental Scholarship.

Admission is free with a cash retiring collection.
