Overview

Together with Professor Tugba Basaran and Professor James Wood, we will be aiming to explore and better understand the structure of academic life in Cambridge specifically, but also further afield (like the UK and the US). We will also look at similarities and differences between positions/career paths across disciplines/research areas.

Speakers

Professor Tugba Basaran serves as the Director of the Centre for the Study of Global Human Movement. Her expertise is international relations - in research and in practice. She has held visiting positions at Harvard Law, Princeton, Sciences-Po and the Institute for Advanced Studies (Princeton). She also held tenure at the University of Kent. Her expertise of international studies was moulded not only through research, but equally through residency and work in the Americas, Africa, Asia and Europe.

Professor James Wood is an infectious disease epidemiologist who studies emerging and zoonotic diseases, often at the interface between humans and animals. He is Alborada Professor of Equine and Farm Animal Medicine and Head of University of Cambridge Vet School.
