Overview
This event explores the progressive educational technique of project-based learning (PBL) and its architectural requirements. Dr David Baker will present a brief overview of PBL, explain its key features and putting into the context of other teaching methods and classroom designs. The guest speaker, Zek Hoeben will then talk about what PBL means in practice, based on his work at School 21, where he was Head of Art, Design & Technology and Director of Makerspace.

Dr David Baker speaks from the triple-perspective of architect, teacher and education researcher.
Zek Hoeben has over 20 years’ experience in art, design, and technology education, helping young people bridge classroom learning with real-world projects, developing creativity, critical thinking, confidence, and skills for the future

This event is organised in collaboration between the School Design Study Group and Wolfson College Research Networks.
Access
This event will take place in the Roger Needham Room on the second floor of the Chancellor's Centre. It has step-free access with a lift and there is an accessible toilet located each floor of the building.
