Our women's crews are in dire need of a new boat; they have been using the same one for twenty years. W1 and W2 have been doing extraordinarily well in recent times, thanks in part to bespoke coaching funded by one of the College’s generous alumni, recently winning the Pegasus Cup in the May Bumps. However, without the most fundamental piece of equipment, they cannot continue to thrive, fulfill their incredible potential and make the College community proud in races throughout the year.
The W1 and W2 crews currently have to share one boat, which means that W2 sometimes has to use a novice boat in order to train. In contrast, funds were raised for a new boat for the men’s crew in 2015 to coincide with the College’s 50th Anniversary.
While the men’s crews have been able to profit from their new ‘Ring True’ boat, in which they achieved great success in the 2018 May Bumps, the women’s crews are in danger of being left behind. Two years ago, Friends of the Boat Club came together to raise enough money to purchase the men’s Stampfli VIII. This year, in line with Wolfson’s spirit of diversity, we urge you to come together once again to raise £30,000 to acquire another Stampfli VIII – but this time for the women.
Funds Raised So Far
More than £10,000 has already been raised thanks to supporters like you. Now, following the success of winning the Pegasus Cup this year, two anonymous donors have very kindly agreed to match any future gifts to this cause up to the value of £10,000! This means every £1 you donate becomes £2, which is speeding us along towards the final goal of £30,000. Wolfson’s women crews have huge ambition and potential – please help them to achieve this in the Boat Club’s 50th anniversary year.
Help us to raise the final £10,000 needed to buy a new Women's Boat.
