2018 May Bumps

This year represents a very special year for the Wolfson College Boat Club - we are 50 years old! Please join us to celebrate.

Although rowing at the University of Cambridge extends back to the origins of the modern day sport, this year the Wolfson College Boat Club (WCBC) will celebrate fifty years of rowing achievements. The Boat Club's first crew, in 1968, consisted of five women (including the coxswain) and four men. Over the past fifty years we have gone on to establish highly competitive racing crews for both men and women studying at the college.

We are very proud of our short but rich history. In 1968, Wolfson College Boat Club had the first female coxswain to cox in the Men's Bumps Races at Cambridge. Soon after this it became a common sight to see females coxing mens' crews in Cambridge, eventually leading to a female cox in The Boat Race in 1981.

This year, the Club had a very successful Lent Bumps (despite the stormy weather) and we are hopeful for a good result in the May Bumps.

Please join us for this year's May Bumps

Support Your Crew!
With 50 proud years under our oars, we are now looking to the next 50! We are fundraising for a new boat for the Women's Crew, who we have seen row strength to strength over the years and, with your help, are only set to get stronger.

Rowing Session, Sunday 17 June

Come down to the boat house in the morning of Sunday 17 June for a fun and relaxed rowing outing with WCBC alumni. This session is open to all and we are looking forward to seeing you on the river!
