All books borrowed for the Christmas vacation are due back by midnight TODAY (Monday 14 January). Please renew or return your loans without delay! You can renew online up to 3 times (via your library account, accessible from LibrarySearch or Newton), by email to library @ wolfson.cam.ac.uk, or in person by asking the Librarian or Library Assistant. All new loans and renewals will now be issued for the standard loan period (4 weeks; 1 week for economics books).

This Sunday, 13 January, readers will be unable to access some ebooks due to essential upgrade and maintenance work being carried out by one of the ebook suppliers, Taylor & Francis, between 17.00 and 21.00. Please note: it is only those ebooks supplied by Talyor & Francis that will be affected. All other ebooks available to Cambridge University readers will continue to be accessible throughout.

One of the most interesting aspects of life at Wolfson is the range of backgrounds and expertise brought to the College by its members. Part of that mix is the contribution of Senior Members. These members are holders of senior University Offices and distinguished members of the local community from the ranks of business, industry and the professions.

Reading Room, Sir David Williams Room, Computer Room and basement facilities) will be closed over the Christmas and New Year period as follows: Christmas closure The Library will be closed from 7pm on Monday 24 December until 7am on Thursday 27 December. New Year closure The Library will be closed from 7pm on Monday 31 December until 7am on Wednesday 2 January.

Cambridge University Library (the U.L.) is celebrating the run up to Christmas with an online advent calendar. Each day a new image on a Christmas theme will appear on the Special Collections blog. The images are taken from the library’s Victorian children’s book collection, which is just one of the many special collections held at the U.L. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made their first visit to Cambridge and the University on Wednesday, November 28. They met representatives of all the Colleges, long-standing University staff and other members of the academic community.

Borrowing and renewals for the Christmas vacation are now available. The due date for all books renewed or newly borrowed on or after Friday 23 November is Monday 14 January. Please make sure that you return or renew any books you already have on loan by midnight on Monday 26 November.

The Studentship is offered commencing in October 2013 for study in the arts and social sciences (including law). The award may be held for one, two or three years (subject to satisfactory progress) and is worth £11,000 towards university/college fees and maintenance. A successful applicant may be at undergraduate or postgraduate level and must be a citizen of the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland. Preference will be given to candidates who have had a significant break in their studies at some stage since leaving school.

Dr Michael Hrebeniak, Wolfson's Director of Studies in English, is co-organising 'The Rhythm of Objects,' the second PERFORMANCE: ART-CRITIQUE-EXPERIMENT (P:ACE) Convivium that straddles the thrilling new Central Saint Martins College of Arts & Design in King's Cross and Robinson College Cambridge on the weekend of 27-28 October. P:ACE is a new research initiative that brings together theorists and practitioners in the field of Performance across disciplines as a means of exploring its contribution to cultural knowledge.
