Welcome to the new Wolfson website

Last year we launched a website project with two major aims:  to re-design the website and to introduce a user-friendly Content Management System (CMS).  Since the website is so crucial to attracting new students and visiting academics, we wanted to give it a new more contemporary appearance – a process we will probably need to repeat every few years to ensure it stays fresh.  We also wanted to spread the load when it comes to updating information, and make it a quicker and easier process with a more intuitive CMS.

Wolfson Fellow elected to The Royal Society

  Wolfson Fellow Professor Gordon Dougan FMedSci FRS has been elected to a Fellowship of The Royal Society. Principal Research Scientist and Head of Pathogens at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, Gordon Dougan is distinguished through his investigations into how bacteria interact with and stimulate the mucosal surfaces of the body during infection.

Lee Library comb binding service

If you are thinking of using the Lee Library comb binding service this term please submit your document(s) for binding at least one day in advance of your deadline! The demand for the service is likely to be high during the Easter term, which is always a busy time in the library. The Librarian cannot guarantee that requests for on-the-spot or same day binding will be met, so please bear this in mind as you make plans for meeting your deadlines.

Renew or return your vacation loans!

All books borrowed for the vacation are due back by midnight on Monday 23 April. Please renew or return your loans without delay! You can renew online up to 3 times (via your library account, accessible from LibrarySearch or Newton), by email to library @wolfson.cam.ac.uk, or in person by asking the Librarian or Library Assistant. From Tuesday 17 April all new loans and renewals will be issued for the standard loan period (4 weeks; 1 week for economics books).

Easter vacation opening hours & staffing

The College Library remains open 24/7 throughout the Easter vacation, including over the Easter bank holiday weekend. However, there will be some changes to the usual staffing pattern, as follows: 19-23 March – staffed part-time only (contact Laurence on library@wolfson for further details); 26-30 March – no staff. From 2 April the new Librarian, Jenny Sargent, will be in post, and the Library will be staffed full-time as normal (Monday-Friday).

The Queen at Wolfson

Her Majesty the Queen formally opened Wolfson College in November 1977, twelve years after the institution was first founded. The college began as University College in 1965, and was renamed in 1973 following a major benefaction by the Wolfson Foundation.
