This Doctoral Researcher Award is presented by the Association of British Turkish Academics (ABTA) to promote and award academic and scientific excellence among young researchers in the UK. This year there was strong competition for this award with 140 applications from 40 universities in the UK. These applications were evaluated by a committee of expert academics and, based on their reports, Dr Haider Butt was selected among the three finalists in the Engineering and Physical Sciences category.
At the award ceremony the three finalists presented their research to a general audience. Haider was awarded first place in the competition for his research work on 'Holograms based on Nanostructures'. The award consisted of a cash prize and tablet PC.
Dr. Haider Butt is a Henslow Research Fellow at Wolfson College and Post-Doctoral Research Assistant in Nanophotonics at the Centre of Molecular Materials for Photonics and Electronics, Electrical Engineering Division, University of Cambridge.
