Lunchtime recital

Pianist Andrew Goldman will give this week's Wolfson Music Society Lunchtime Recital on Saturday 11 February at 1.30pm in the Lee Hall. Andrew, who is studying for a PhD in Musicology at Wolfson, is a finalist in the CUMS Concerto Competition, competing for the opportunity to perform a concerto with one of the University orchestras in 2012-13. Entrance to Saturday's recital is free; there will be a retiring collection for the Wolfson Choir Tour to Greece in July. All welcome!

Dr Christine Corton is the guest speaker at today's Lunchtime Seminar (Wednesay 1 February), with a talk entitled 'From Fog to Smog: A Literary Journey' at 1.00pm in the Combination Room. Please bring your lunch; tea & coffee provided. Abstract: "London fog has been viewed as a nuisance since Tudor times, but it was the Victorian era that began to view it as a feature so characteristic of London life that it could provide both writers and artists with great metaphorical opportunities.

College regrets to record the death of Dr Alan Burgess, Emeritus Fellow, on 27 December 2011. Formerly a University Lecturer in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, Alan was a Fellow of the College from 1966 to 2001 and Emeritus Fellow from 2001.
