The 2012 Bridport Prize competition is now open, offering a £5000 first prize for a short story (up to 5000 words) or poem, and £1000 in the new 'Flash Fiction' category for the best story under 250 words. Judged this year by Gwynneth Lewis and Patrick Gale, the Prize is known as a significant literary stepping stone. Entries are due by 31 May 2012.
