College Visitor

Wolfson College shieldWolfson College is pleased to announce that the Lord Sainsbury of Turville will be the next College Visitor, following his election as Chancellor of the University of Cambridge by the Senate in October.

Since its foundation (as University College) in 1965, Wolfson has enjoyed close ties with the University, and by statute, the Chancellor serves as the College Visitor. The role is, in practice, largely a ceremonial one, but carries important responsibilities in certain circumstances. The previous Visitor, H.R.H. The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, made several visits to Wolfson at significant points in the College's history during his term as Chancellor from 1977 to 2011. A selection of photographs of these events is available on the WolfsonPlus website.
