Election of the Chancellor of the University

On 14 and 15 October 2011, the election for the new Chancellor of the University of Cambridge will take place in Cambridge. This is an historic occasion with important consequences for Wolfson, since the Chancellor also serves as the College Visitor.

The University and Colleges are making special arrangements for the large numbers of current members and alumni expected to come to vote in person. Please read on for information relevant to Wolfson members.

Am I eligible to vote?
All alumni holding the Cambridge MA or equivalent are eligible to vote. See ?Two important notes? below for further information about eligibility.

Where will the vote take place?
The election will take place in the Senate House in Cambridge on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 October 2011 from 10am to 8pm on each day. Votes must be cast in person.

If you plan to visit Wolfson College on 14 or 15 October, please let Kate Hampson in the Alumni office know on alumni @wolfson.cam.ac.uk

Two important notes:
? If any of the four candidates withdraws from the election before 7 October 2011, the vote will have to be postponed. If you are intending to travel to Cambridge to vote, please check the University?s alumni website on 8 October to confirm that the election will be taking place as planned.

? To be eligible to vote you must have taken your MA or higher degree at a Congregation (Graduation ceremony), either in person or in absence. For alumni who have not yet taken their qualifying degree, but are entitled to do so (for example, if you hold a Cambridge BA but have never taken your MA), you may be able to graduate before the election. There will be a special Congregation on Saturday 1 October for those eligible to take their degree, in absence only. To register you can apply via the form provided on the College website. Please indicate in section 4a) of the form that you wish to take your degree in absence. The College must receive your application form by 10am on Thursday 22 September at the latest.

Where can I find more information?
Full details of those eligible to vote, the voting procedures and the candidates can be found on the University's alumni webpages.
