Wolfson Member features on 'Inside Out' (BBC1 Eastern Region)

Wolfson Member David Jacques will feature tonight, 25 February, on BBC1’s 'Inside Out', Eastern Region. Anyone outside this region can access the programme via BBC iPlayer or Sky. Much of the piece was filmed at Wolfson College and also includes an interview with the President, Professor Sir Richard Evans.

But that has changed recently with the addition of 12 new professorships. Read the full article here. Wolfson Research Event: Call for Abstracts!

We invite submission of abstracts for either oral or poster presentations from students of Wolfson College Cambridge and St. Antony’s College Oxford on the research they are conducting at their affiliate University. Submissions on all research topics are welcome. Submissions should include: (i) researcher’s name (ii) email address, (iii) college and department at the University, (iv) whether the abstract is for a poster or an oral presentation (v) title of presentation and (vi) abstract.

Cambridge entrepreneurs triumph in biotechnology business plan competition

A team of aspiring biotechnology entrepreneurs from the University of Cambridge won the Biotechnology Young Entrepreneurs Scheme (Biotechnology YES) 2012 after a day of tough competition in London: Linsey Porter, Liam Hurst, Alap Chavda, with Ajoeb Baridi and Anastasiia Kamenska from Wolfson (pictured above left to right).

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made their first visit to Cambridge and the University on Wednesday, November 28. They met representatives of all the Colleges, long-standing University staff and other members of the academic community.
Donald & Beryl O'May Studentship

The Studentship is offered commencing in October 2013 for study in the arts and social sciences (including law). The award may be held for one, two or three years (subject to satisfactory progress) and is worth £11,000 towards university/college fees and maintenance. A successful applicant may be at undergraduate or postgraduate level and must be a citizen of the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland. Preference will be given to candidates who have had a significant break in their studies at some stage since leaving school.

Dr Michael Hrebeniak, Wolfson's Director of Studies in English, is co-organising 'The Rhythm of Objects,' the second PERFORMANCE: ART-CRITIQUE-EXPERIMENT (P:ACE) Convivium that straddles the thrilling new Central Saint Martins College of Arts & Design in King's Cross and Robinson College Cambridge on the weekend of 27-28 October. P:ACE is a new research initiative that brings together theorists and practitioners in the field of Performance across disciplines as a means of exploring its contribution to cultural knowledge.

Prestigious appointment for Wolfson student

Nicholas Tufnell, who has just entered his third year of reading English at Wolfson, has been appointed to the prestigious position of Editor-in-Chief of The Cambridge Student (TCS) newspaper for Michaelmas Term. Prior to this he served as its Sub Editor, Interviews Editor, Features Editor, Columns Editor and Deputy News Editor. His Director of Studies and the Wolfson English cohort will be avidly looking out for Nicholas's uniquely Lacanian interpretations of breaking news!
