ABTA Doctoral Researcher Award 2013 for Wolfson Fellow

This Doctoral Researcher Award is presented by the Association of British Turkish Academics (ABTA) to promote and award academic and scientific excellence among young researchers in the UK. This year there was strong competition for this award with 140 applications from 40 universities in the UK.

Wolfson Fellow to feature on Channel 4

Dr Giles Yeo, Fellow and Tutor of Wolfson will feature on an upcoming Channel 4 show called ‘Fat Family Tree’ on Thursday 23 May at 8pm. Giles is Director of Genomics/Transcriptomics at the MRC Metabolic Diseases Unit, Addenbrooke's Hospital.

Lost and Sound: Film and Q&A

A film that Wolfson Fellow David Baguley advised on and appear briefly in is being shown at the Arts Picturehouse on 12 and 16 May. There will be a Q&A session after both screenings, with Lindsey Dryden (Director), Nick Coleman (music critic and author) and David. Wolfson's Professor Brian Moore, was also involved: his team did the simulations of listening through hearing aids and cochlear implants in the film.

Wolfson Fellow Elected to Fellowship of the American Academy of Microbiology

  George Salmond of the Department of Biochemistry has been elected to Fellowship of the American Academy of Microbiology. Fellows are elected through a highly selective, annual, peer review process, based on their records of scientific achievement and original contributions that have advanced microbiology. He is one of only two UK Fellows to be elected this year.

Coast: an exhibition of photographic prints
