I am saddened to report the death of Mr King. He was a founding Fellow of the College (1965) and served successively as Secretary of the Trustees (1968-77), Bursar (1968-79), Vice President (1984-88), Director of the Wolfson Course and Programme (1979-95). He was elected an Honorary Fellow in 1995. Within the University, he served in numerous capacities, not least as Senior Proctor 1991-92. Outside Cambridge, his public service, particularly for the police, was recognised by the award of MBE in the New Year's Honours list, 2002.
