Unlocking the art of writing

The second in Richard Berengarten’s series of seminars on writing skills for graduate students takes place at the Thesis Writing Group tonight (Thursday 9 February) at 6.00pm in the Lee Hall. This session, called ‘Keys to the necessary art’ follows on from last week’s ‘Fresh approaches to composition’, and will look at various aspects of style, grammar, language use and presentation. Handouts will be provided. All welcome!

Lunchtime recital

Pianist Andrew Goldman will give this week’s Wolfson Music Society Lunchtime Recital on Saturday 11 February at 1.30pm in the Lee Hall. Andrew, who is studying for a PhD in Musicology at Wolfson, is a finalist in the CUMS Concerto Competition, competing for the opportunity to perform a concerto with one of the University orchestras in 2012-13. Entrance to Saturday’s recital is free; there will be a retiring collection for the Wolfson Choir Tour to Greece in July. All welcome!

Curtis Sharma, from Trinidad, is reading for a BA in Linguistics after a career as a singer/songwriter and busking on the London Underground (watch and listen to Curtis, a.k.a.
