Directions

The College is on Barton Road, Newnham (west of the city centre). Cambridge is within easy reach of London, London's airports and other major cities.

by road

The RAC and AA websites offer up-to-date traffic information and route-planners.

From London and its airports: London Orbital (M25), M11 north; from the Midlands or the North: A1, A14, M11 south; from the East: All/A14, M11 south.

Leave the M11 at Junction 12 and follow the sign for Cambridge, which brings you onto Barton Road - the College is just within the city limits. Look out for Gough Way on your left, closely followed by a safety camera. The College entrance is on your left, shortly after the camera, opposite Grantchester Road and just before the traffic lights at the pedestrian crossing.

by air

London Stansted (STN) is the nearest airport (40 minutes by road), with good coach and rail services to Cambridge. Stansted is well served by several European low-cost airlines (Ryanair, easyJet, Air Berlin).

The other London airports are Luton (LTN, 1 hour away), London City (LCY, 1.5 hours), London Heathrow (LHR, 2 hours), London Gatwick (LGW, 3 hours). There are regular coach services from these airports to central Cambridge, from where you can walk (20 minutes), or take a bus or taxi from the bus station.

by train

First Capital Connect provides a fast and frequent service from London King's Cross and National Express East Anglia provides a slower service from London Liverpool Street. There are also direct services from the Midlands, the east and the north-west. From Scotland and the north-east you have to change at Peterborough. When you get to Cambridge take a taxi from the station as it is a 40-minute walk to Wolfson.

by coach

National Express run hourly services to and from London and the London airports, as well as serving many other towns and cities. Coaches terminate at Drummer Street bus station in the city centre. It is a 20-minute walk to Wolfson; so a taxi is probably your best option.

by taxi

The bus and rail stations both have adjacent taxi ranks. Some of the local call-out companies are A1 Taxis (01223 359123), Cabco (01223 312444), Cam-tax (01223 313131), Panther Taxis (715715) and Regency Taxis (01223 311388). The fare is about £8. Ask for “Wolfson College, Barton Road entrance”, and they will drop you at the College flagpole.

by bus

The Stagecoach 18/18a service leaves Drummer Street bus station and stops at Grantchester Road, Newnham, opposite the front entrance of the College. Although cheaper than a taxi, the service is not very frequent.
