Boat Naming Ceremony

The first addition to the Wolfson boathouse is a IV+ named ‘Capt. Jack & ZZ’ for John Friedman and his daughter Elizabeth (‘ZZ’, who rowed for W1 in 2011).  Mr and Mrs Friedman and ZZ flew in from New York for the ceremony, and were delighted to be in Cambridge despite the unseasonal weather.

The second named boat is a single scull – ‘Inga’ – for Inga Shervington (wife of longtime Friend of the Boat Club, Dick Shervington, Wolfson 1992).  Dick expertly opened the Champagne and Inga modestly said, ‘I had never imagined that I would have a boat named after me at Cambridge University!’

Finally, the Club is delighted with the reconditioned ‘Bronwyn and Rhiannan’ - a whiff (training scull) named for alumni Bronwyn Murrell (Novice Captain 2009/10) and Rhîannan Williams (Women's Captain 2009/10).  Rhîannan (pictured below and to the right) is currently at Harvard, but Bronwyn was delighted to christen the boat, which was refurbished by Bronwyn and Daniel Murrell (Daniel also rowed for Wolfson in 2009/10), Rhîannan Williams and Daniel Lam.

The Boat Club is enormously grateful to all their supporters, and, in particular, those who have made such a tangible difference to the Club.
